The Invitation Theatre Company (TITCO) have come together to sing and create music in an online concert - to raise much needed funds for local charity Dorothy House Hospice.

Singing two meters apart, the company met in St Mary’s Church in Devizes and recorded a selection of musical theatre, popular and close harmony songs.

Chairman Anthony Brown said: “It was both fantastic and strange being able to sing together again after 10 months of not doing one jot of music together. We planned what we were going to sing and worked in a distanced way to make it work. It’s been excellent and with the use of deep cleaning, staying two meters apart and ‘no mingling’ under current rules, we’ve been able to create something really quite special."

“We’ve chosen a fantastic programme, about 30 minutes of show songs from shows we’ve done in the past and some new music from the likes of Karl Jenkins. We were due to do Symphonic Adiemus by Karl Jenkins with my orchestra, the Fulltone Orchestra, and a massed choir this Christmas, it was set to be something quite spectacular and was going to raise a significant amount for Dorothy House. But such is life and we’ve managed to do the Adiemus with just us and Dominic Irving on piano, supported by John Joy on drums - and it’s just brilliant. Although much much smaller than we had planned, it’s pretty special music. And we hope people watching on film will love it as much as we have singing it - do come along and watch the ‘premier’ with us on the 28th”

TITCO are showcasing the online concert, recorded professionally by local film maker Chris Watkins on October 28 at 7:30pm. For more information, visit https://fb.me/e/4TJk3UNz

Mr Brown added“The Arts are just so important. Devizes is rich with music and theatre and it’s been quite desperate times without it. We and The Wharf theatre and others, are showing that it can be done in a safe and secure way. It’s different, but it’s great. And whilst this is an online concert, we’re making plans for something real and live with audiences soon - so long as rules allow!”
