KINGTON Langley Croquet Club, near Chippenham, held its annual end of season Bevan Olympics last weekend.

The format was slightly different this year due to coronavirus, although the games were the same and those taking part played in small numbers rather than all together.

Ian Wills, chairman of the club, said: “The games required the use of various croquet techniques, but in a fun and different way. There were skittles, but hitting the skittles with a croquet ball hit by the mallet, a slalom - hitting the ball between gates with the least amount of strokes, hitting the ball to and fro through a hoop as many times as possible in one minute, and so on. There were jump shots, hitting balls out of a circle, hitting the peg and more, twelve challenges in all.”

Mr Wills added: “Hopefully we will be able to play fully next year, and are planning to have open days and training sessions for new members.” For more information, email kingtonlangleycroquetclub@gmail.com or visit kingtonlangleycroquetclub.co.uk
