A TREE to commemorate Covid-19 pandemic victims is to be planted in Trowbridge town park.

Town councillors voted unanimously at a recent neighbourhood services committee meeting to provide a tree for planting.

The move follows a proposal by Cllr Steve Oldrieve, who suggested the tree should commemorate victims of the Covid-19 pandemic and those unsung heroes who provided a community response.

The inscription on the plaque will read: 'Covid-19 pandemic: This tree is dedicated to the people of Trowbridge, remembering those who died and the health workers and unknown helpers who through their acts of kindness helped others to survive. Autumn 2020'.

Staff member Carl Maddox has been asked to find a proposed location and provide costings. A date for the tree to be planted will be agreed with Trowbridge mayor, Cllr Peter Fuller.
