BRIGHTERKIND'S Westbury Court Care Home in Westbury celebrated this year’s harvest festival with a host of activities.

Residents were encouraged to take part in baking, autumnal crafts and singing hymns of thanksgiving, including the traditional favourite ‘We Plough The Fields and Scatter’.

They made corn dollies and put together a harvest display to show off their autumn crafts and produce and had a great time making harvest flatbreads.

Local vicar Caroline Husband from the White Horse Ministry Team came along to take a harvest service from the gazebo in the garden.

After a celebratory lunch with traditional dishes like fidget pie, honey baked gammon and toffee & apple cake, residents enjoyed an afternoon of live music by singer Alice Mayhead.

Resident Barrie Leech said: “It was really lovely to have a thanksgiving service and sing some familiar hymns with our vicar Caroline. Our home looks lovely with all the autumn colours and decorations.”

The home’s Magic Moments Club Coordinator Linda Bush added: “We’ve had a great time trying out different activities and our residents have enjoyed sharing their memories of celebrating the harvest festival in the past.”
