PUB staff have grown more than 1,500 pumpkins to give families a spooky Halloween despite the coronavirus crisis.

The team at Sally Pussey's Inn on Swindon Road have worked with a local farmer to help children celebrate. The pumpkins can be carved on site or taken home until Saturday.

There is also a selection of pop-up food stalls serving waffles, doughnuts and ice cream and a Pumpkin Patch specials menu.

Sally Pussey’s is one of seven locations operated by the Relish Group.

Its director Rob Groves said: “It is the first time we have created a Pumpkin Patch and we want to help everyone get into the spirit at this time of year, no pun intended.

“Sally’s is a real family favourite in Royal Wootton Bassett, Swindon and the surrounding area and we thought this would be a fun and engaging idea.

“We have adhered to all of the current government safety measures and social distancing and we just want everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly.

"There is no charge to enter the Pumpkin Patch but if you wish to select one to carve, prices start at £2.50 with the option to also purchase a carving kit.”
