American burger chain Five Guys has expanded its seating at the Swindon Designer Outlet.

The franchise already has additional seating in the main concourse of the shopping centre but it has now taken over the empty Hornby Hobbies unit next door.

Hornby Hobbies left the centre earlier this month with the company stating its lease was up and that most of its sales were now online.

Tina Cumpstey, centre manager at the Swindon Designer Outlet said: “Since Five Guys opened earlier this year it has been hugely popular, and we are delighted to be able to offer them more space to expand the restaurant seating area.

"I am thrilled to see that customers have returned to our centre with confidence and that the extensive measures we have taken have reassured guests that is it safe to visit Swindon Designer Outlet.’

Five Guys opened its first Wiltshire restaurant, and 101st UK unit, earlier this year.

It took over the old Ed’s Easy Diner unit after the restaurant left in September last year.

The restaurant did close in March during the national coronavirus lockdown but has since reopened with new social distancing measures.

People are still flocking to the store with all three of the seating areas at the Swindon Designer Outlet seeing plenty of customers over the weekend.
