POLICE are still searching for a suicidal man from Trowbridge who was reported missing near the River Avon and Kennet & Avon Canal in west Wiltshire.

Kondwani Mwale, aged 24, has been missing since 4.30pm on Monday and was last seen at Amber House in Trowbridge.

He is described as black, of medium build, 5ft 9inches tall with black shaved hair.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark top, grey jeans and carrying a black backpack.

Police said: “We are concerned about Kondwani’s welfare and would urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to please get in touch.”

Family and friends reported him missing after growing increasingly concerned for his welfare due to a suicide note left on social media at around 6pm.

In an earlier phone call with a friend, flowing water was heard. It sparked a search of the waterways between Bradford on Avon and Batheaston near Bath.

Police closed a road to the Kennet & Avon Canal at Limpley Stoke and the National Police Air Service helicopter twice visited the area overnight.

Officers are being supported by specialist water search volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue as they try to locate him.
