WITH holidays to far-off shores looking uncertain for the foreseeable future, many people are looking at visiting places closer to home.

One way of getting out to explore what Britain has to offer is in a motorhome, and Andy Cahill, director of The Motorhome Showroom, believes the popularity for the vehicles is going to soar.

“We see a good 18 months to two years of disruption to come and seeing what legacy the virus will leave us with,” he said.

“However we provide a service that I think will be in demand, allowing people to go away and be totally self-sufficient.

“You can completely detach yourself and your family from everything in a motorhome and isolate while still enjoying a holiday, and I think it is something that more people will be looking at over the next year.”

The specialist dealership, in Warminster, reopened on June 1 for appointments, before opening fully a month later.

“We are just trying to keep going in these difficult times,” said Mr Cahill.

“One of our biggest challenges was adapting the workspace to allow everyone to work safely. We’re a small business, but it had to be done. We’ve also introduced all the necessary measures such as hand sanitising stations, one-way systems and desk screens throughout the showroom.

“Our customers have been very complimentary of all the measures we have put in place, and they have put those comments in reviews, which is wonderful.

“Many have said they are amazed at how far we have gone and they feel very comfortable when visiting our site.”
