Police divers and friends of a missing man from Trowbridge have spent a fifth day searching the River Avon.

Konwani Mwale, 24, was reported missing on 26 October.

Specialist officers from Avon and Somerset Police and Wiltshire Search and Rescue have since been deployed in an area of the River Avon near Warleigh Weir.

His friends have also been continuing to search by allocating groups to look in different areas. They have set up a Facebook group, Community Search for Missing Kondwani, for people to help.

Kondwani has links to Bristol, Bath, Trowbridge, Frome and Avoncliffe.

He is about 5’10” in height and also maybe have a shaky voice due to his condition.

The shout out on the Group page says: "He was last known to be near flowing water and there are worrying concerns about his state of mind. Last seen at Amber House, Trowbridge, wearing a black jacket, dark top, grey jeans and carrying a black backpack."

One of the searchers, Christopher Ogborn said: "I did a couple of hours searching yesterday with six other people. My guess is we all felt the same and hoped we would find something and hoped we wouldn't find something all at the same time.

"I also wished that there wasn't even the need to search but things are as they are, what struck me was how strangers could come together for a common cause and how proud I was of those in my group and all those in other groups.

"Well done everyone, the world can be crappy but yesterday you helped to reaffirm my faith in people's innate goodness, let's keep going."
