This Christmas is looking different for us all this year, but for children and young people in mental health hospitals there are a whole host of additional challenges.

To make the festive period slightly easier, volunteers at Christmas For CAMHS are now fundraising to send gifts to every single child and young person who will be spending December 25 in a mental health unit this year.

Dr Rosanna Bevan, from Bath, came together with friends Matt Glanville and Lauren Nathan-Lane in 2016 to ensure that no child was forgotten by Santa come Christmas Day.

While many members of the public and corporate donors give Christmas gifts to children’s hospitals or children’s wards in general hospitals, CAMHS units can frequently be forgotten.

Christmas For CAMHS has gone from strength to strength since its launch four years ago- and achieved registered charity status in July 2020.

Dr Bevan said: "We want to let young people going through a difficult time know we’re thinking of them.

"We’d love to reach more of them and give meaningful gifts that help them cope whilst in hospital."
