THE annual Morphman Charity Auction to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support is taking place this week.

This year, the auction is being held online because of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions.

Organiser Robbie Newton, assistant branch manager at Travis Perkins in Melksham, said: “There was no way the current pandemic was going to stop us!“It's that time of year again where you bid in our auction and enable us to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

"This will be one of the best ones yet with 136 items on offer with potentially more to come!

“It is a very difficult time for charities at the moment and especially for people living with cancer.

"Macmillan’s services have never been more essential, with thousands of people receiving a late diagnosis or have had their cancer treatment cancelled or delayed as a result of coronavirus.

“Macmillan are currently facing substantial shortfalls in their fundraising and have never needed support from the public more.”

Bidding began at 7.30am on Monday, November 16 and ends at 5pm on Friday, November 20.

Mr Newton added: “This will be one of the best ones yet with 136 items on offer with potentially more to come!

“With Christmas just around the corner, please take the time to browse the list of lots for potential gifts for friends and family.

“If you think anyone you know may be interested, please help us by sharing this event or passing the message on.

“You don't have to travel anywhere as bidding is done online!

“Please remember bids are time stamped, it's not necessarily your bid if somebody beats you to it! If in doubt, bid it out!
