YOUNGSTERS at Holt Pre-school will take part in a marathon challenge this weekend.

They will be walking five kilometres on Saturday (November 21) to help raise £5,000 for a new building. So far, they have raised £4,840 towards their appeal target.

One of the fundraising committee members Anna Mundell said: "Holt Pre-school is at the heart of our community.

"It is loved by all who come into contact with it but it is in need of help as the much-loved building has reached the end of its life.

"Like many early years settings who have been severely effected by Covid-19, Holt Pre-school is experiencing some trying times."We are committed to helping it out so it can continue to offer its wonderful services for future generations.

"The ultimate goal is to raise £5,000 this year which will go towards the much needed re-build of the current structure on site.

"A new building would give the children and team a much nicer environment to play and work in and give it a much brighter future."

The children were so inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore’s efforts during the last coronavirus lockdown that they decided they too would like to try their hand at their own fundraising challenge.

During this current lockdown, with their own little, but probably equally slow legs, they will be embarking on a marathon walk.

Each Holt Pre-school child, along with their family, will be undertaking 5k walks on Saturday to collectively clock up a marathon and then some.

Committee member Sophie Lintott said: "In true marathon style, everyone will be in fancy dress too!

"We will, of course, be keeping within our own family bubbles, all in accordance with Government guidelines."To donate, go to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/holt-pre-school
