The government has revealed that a rise in Covid-19 cases in Wiltshire, and increased hospital admissions, is behind Swindon's Tier 2 ranking.
This morning, Swindon and Wiltshire were named in Tier 2, meaning shops can reopen but you cannot meet with other households indoors.
Pubs and bars must close unless acting as a restaurant and serving a 'substantial meal'.
Swindon has been placed into Tier 2 because of a rise in hospital admissions as well as a rise in cases across Wiltshire despite falling in the town.
A statement from the government website says: "Case rates continue to fall in Swindon but are increasing in Wiltshire.
"Overall case rates are 143/100,000 and 93/100,000 in the over 60s. Positivity is 6.2 per cent.
"Swindon and Wiltshire STP are reporting increasing admissions to hospital."
