The British Heart Foundation (BHF) store in Warminster is appealing to the local community to donate the gift of time to support the charity’s recovery from the coronavirus crisis.

The BHF Warminster store sadly had to close its doors for several months this year due to the pandemic but volunteers are now thrilled to be back up and running and raising funds for life saving research.

The coronavirus crisis has had a devastating impact on the BHF’s income, leading to a potential £50 million cut in research funding and the delay of important scientific breakthroughs. It is now urgently asking the local community to support their nearest shop by taking up volunteering opportunities available.

The BHF Warminster store is asking the local community, who are not in a high-risk category from Covid-19 and who may be looking for new volunteering opportunities, to help support them. As well as raising funds for the charity’s important work, volunteering can have other benefits and has been proven to improve mental well-being.

The BHF shops and stores have Covid-19 measures in place to keep staff, volunteers and customers safe. This includes social distancing on the shop floor, protective equipment for staff and volunteers, contact-free collections and the resting of donated items.

Jack Burrows, retail volunteering manager, said: "Volunteers will be able to help with a wide range of roles such as Customer Service Assistants and Telephonists, Warehouse Assistants and Sales Floor Merchandisers who ensure that our shops and stores are full of great stock. This experience can make a real difference to your CV, help with your confidence and help the BHF raise funds for life-saving research.

"Whether you want to pick up a few shifts or explore volunteering longer term at the BHF Warminster store, every pound raised helps the charity to support those living with heart and circulatory diseases, many of whom are at increased risk from Covid-19. Your gift of time can help the BHF to help them."
