AN online charity auction has raised a massive £8,063 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Travis Perkins Charity Auction 2020 raised the cash from selling more than 135 lots online.

Organiser Robbie Newton, the assistant branch manager at Travis Perkins in Melksham, said: “I was hoping to raise £5,000 so to get £8,000 is unbelievable with everything that has gone on this year.

"Our total for the year so far is £12,200 which is only £1,000 short of the £13,300 we raised last year. I was quite pleased with that."

Mr Newton is also organising a Travis Perkins Melksham Christmas Hamper free prize draw with two food hampers as the main prizes, plus some smaller items.

He is asking for a suggested donation of £2 per strip which will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The draw will be made on Friday, December 18 and he will then deliver the hamper the winners if they live locally.
