In this year of all years, we have seen how the amazing efforts of kind and charitable individuals from Cumbria can make a massive difference to the lives of the vulnerable.
In today's gallery, we cast our minds back to the havoc that Storm Desmond wreaked upon our region in Carlisle, Penrith and beyond in December 2015.
What really becomes clear when looking through these snaps is the outpouring of desire to help that was widespread in the region when the devastating impacts of the storm quickly became apparent on those windy, chilling nights five year ago.
From artistry to clean-up efforts and fundraising heroics, it is clear that Cumbrians were not willing to let the storm defeat us.
As ever, if you have some recollections of kindness to share, make sure to get in touch with us via Facebook or email.
