GPs in Trowbridge are ready to start giving out coronavirus vaccinations this week.

Until now Trowbridge surgeries have not been allocated batches of the vaccine from NHS England.

However, in a joint statement, the town’s GPs said they are due to receive their first delivery and will start the rollout this week.

The statement said: “We understand that this is a worrying and anxious time for many people.

“We would therefore like to give a brief update to our patients with regards to Covid-19 vaccinations.

“We have been very busy putting all the necessary procedures in place for us to be able to vaccinate our patients.

“We would like to reassure our patients that having been given notice of a delivery date just before the New Year weekend, we are now starting to contact the eligible patient priority groups to book their vaccinations.

“The priority groups and timescales are set by the government and we are unable to make changes to them.”

The group added that patients should not contact their GP surgery for more information on the vaccines. This is to help keep service running at a normal level.
