Consultation into options for the controversial distributor road in Chippenham is underway.

Residents and businesses will now be able to view and comment on three options for a potential distributor road through the countryside to link the north and south of the town.

A consultation can be found at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/future-chippenham and when completed can be emailed to futurechippenham@wiltshire.gov.uk or posted to the Future Chippenham team, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire BA14 8JN.

The works are slated to be complete by 2026 with up to 7,500 planned in the area up to 2048.

Philip Whitehead, leader of the council, said: “It is really important that people have the opportunity to comment on these proposals.

“As we are unable to hold public exhibitions at the present time due to Covid-19 restrictions, we have provided the consultation information in a variety of ways such as a flythrough, video and leaflet to explain the proposals in greater detail.

“The feedback will help select the final route within each of the five zones with the preferred route for the distributor road and link road to Pewsham Way being presented to the public in summer 2021.”

The two webinars can be accessed for free by signing up at Eventbrite.

The first of these webinars will take place on Thursday, January 28 at 11am with another webinar taking place in February.
