A man died in a car accident on the M4 near Chippenham last night.
Police were called to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between Junctions 16 and 17 at 7.15pm.
The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old man from the Bristol area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.
The westbound stretch of the M4 between Junctions 16 and 17 was closed for six hours.
Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to contact them.
