Devizes Opendoors, which provides support for rough sleepers and people in temporary accommodation, has received a cash boost thanks to a donation from David Wilson Homes.

The charity's John Saunders said: "Contributions like this allow us to continue to provide essential supplies where needed and support vulnerable people in the Devizes community to find solutions to homelessness."

The donation from David Wilson Homes follows a £9,000 contribution to food banks across the South West in response to the pandemic last year.

Together with its sister company Barratt Homes, the housebuilders donate £3,000 every month to local causes in the South West as part of the company's commitment to supporting the communities where they are building new homes.

James Dunne, managing director at David Wilson Homes South West said the donations were inspired by the "amazing" work of local charities. He said: "This year it feels even more important to provide support to people less fortunate than ourselves.

"We are hugely grateful to the staff and volunteers at Devizes Opendoors for their incredibly valuable work and hope our contribution enables these charities to continue to spread that support widely."
