Firefighters and police were called to Biss Meadow Bridge in Trowbridge following a fire.
At 8.53pm on Tuesday, April 6, firefighters attended a small fire on the Biss Meadow Bridge near the Tesco Extra in Trowbridge.
A spokesman for the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “One crew from Trowbridge attended and used one hose reel jet to extinguish, and the stop came at 9.07pm.”
Wiltshire Police, who also attended the fire, said: “We received a call at around 8.50pm last night (April 6) due to a group of youths stealing a cleaning station trolley from Tesco, in County Way, Trowbridge.
“Officers attended and carried out a search of the area. They found the abandoned trolley and were aware that the fire service had dealt with a small fire on the pedestrian bridge near Biss Meadows.
“At this stage, no arrests have been made, but anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 264 of yesterday.”
The Trowbridge neighbourhood services team asked people to be aware of the damage caused not only by the fire but also the sides of the bridge being broken and torn down.
The incident has been reported to Wiltshire Council.
