ELLIS Iandolo and Dion Conroy are both likely to be out for the season through injury, according to Swindon Town manager John Sheridan.

Iandolo picked up a grade-two hamstring tear during the early minutes of Easter Monday's 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion while the Town boss revealed Conroy is set to have surgery on an unspecified issue.

Both, therefore, are likely to be absent from the Swindon squad for the final seven games of the League One season as Town hunt survival.

Updating the media on the latest injury issues to hit Town's squad, Sheridan said: "Ellis has a grade-two hamstring injury, so unfortunately he'll be missing for a while.

"The physios know better than me, but off the top of my head, a grade-two injury is a six-to-eight week issue, so Ellis will probably miss the rest of the season.

"He's just gone in for a simple clear. I'm not sure if Ellis has had hamstring problems before, I think he has, but to go so early in the game when he's been warming up for at least 30 minutes.

"It's a crying shame because he was doing well in that position, and he'll be a big loss for us."

The Town boss then fielded questions on whether club captain Conroy would be back in contention for a starting spot - only for Sheridan to make the surprising announcement.

He said: "Dion Conroy is injured and probably won't play again this season.

"He needs an operation - I'm not sure on what - but we've got Tom Broadbent there and Taylor Curran there as well, so I've got to make a decision on who I put in against Peterborough.

"He (Conroy) has had niggly injuries before, he needs to get match fit, his injuries have been going on and on.

"We've had too many injuries here and I don't know why they keep reoccurring with the same people. "Whether it's his knee, his Achilles or his calf, it's too many injuries and he's never got back to being fully match fit."
