A DRUG dealer was selling crack and heroin for the “Tall Pete” drugs line.

Joel Lester, 27, now faces a spell behind bars – after he was caught dealing the class A drugs while subject to a 21 month suspended prison sentence.

Appearing before Swindon Crown Court, Lester, of Clive Parade, admitted being concerned in the supply of class A drugs between December 1, 2020, and March 17, 2021, possession with intent to supply cannabis on March 17 and possession of criminally-acquired cash.

He pleaded not guilty to charges of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

It is not suggested that Lester is the “Tall Pete” after whom the drugs line is named.

Remanding Lester into custody and ordering a pre-sentence report, Judge Jason Taylor QC said: “You need to understand not only because of the circumstances of the case but also because you committed them in breach of a suspended sentence order that I would say the inevitable conclusion must be custody and [the report] will only go to length.”

Last May, Lester was spared an immediate spell behind bars for shoving a former lover to the ground outside John Street nightclub Casbah after she kicked the door of a car in which he was sitting.

Judge Taylor noted there was a prospect Lester could be rehabilitated and suspended the 21 month jail sentence for two years.

He said: “For reasons that are not entirely clear but almost certainly relate to a previous albeit short-lived relationship, you said something to the victim that annoyed her and she approached the car and kicked it.

"You got out and pushed her violently and forcefully causing her to fall to the floor. Her description was that you flew out of the car and just went for her.”
