DRIVERS could face a 10-mile diversion when Wiltshire Council closes a road for four months to enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer repairs.

The temporary closure will affect the B3105 in Bradford on Avon between the Leigh Park crossroads and the A363 at Frankleigh.

The road will be closed from June 1 and the proposed diversion is 10 miles long.

Now residents fear that drivers will nip into the north of Bradford on Avon adding even further to the heavy traffic at Sladesbrook, Mount Pleasant, New Road, Springfield and the Holt Road.

The diversion will take traffic along the unaffected length of the B3105 to the A363 Bath Road, the A4, the A365 Box Road, the B3109 road past Upper and Lower South Wraxall to Bradford Leigh and vice versa.

Drivers who know the area are likely to use the local roads but residents say the diversion must be clearly signposted for those who don’t know the area, particularly those with HGVs.
