AROUND 20 people helped to clear up the Broadmead estate in Trowbridge with a litter pick on Saturday.

Organiser Tom Bazan said they had collected "a considerable amount" of litter from the Broadmead and Cockhill areas.

He added: "It was a productive one. People split up into small groups, some did around Broadmead Road itself, where others did the front of Walwayne Court, Broadmead Pond and down the brook behind the Tesco Express store.

"I tackled Cockhill and most of the litter I collected was hidden amongst the bushes. Amongst the litter I collected was a car mat, bits of plastic piping and even security tags from alcohol bottles.

"I also picked up a lot of discarded cigarette ends, especially in the vicinity of the bus stops there. If there was a bin for discarded cigarette ends by the bus stops, there wouldn’t be much littering of that nature.

"I would like to thank those who made an effort, helping to make the area clean and tidy for all."

Mr Bazan is aiming to hold another one on the Broadmead estate later in the year.

His next litter pick is on Saturday, May 22 around the Studley Green estate. The meeting point will be at the shops on Manor Road at 10am.
