ONE of the most important tournaments of the year at Kingsdown Golf Club near Box has raised more than £530 for two local charities.

The captains drive in saw 132 players roll up to be split into 33 teams for a Bowmaker competition with two player's scores from four to count.

The winners on the day were Chris Aston, Stephen Maddern, Ian Scarr and Stephen Fyall with an impressive 92 points, six points clear of the second placed team.

Special mention should also go to Janice Simpson, who managed an eagle two on the par four 7th hole.

Kingsdown Golf Club captain, Phil Hodges said he was particularly delighted with the event and the £535 raised from the event.

“Unfortunately we had to cancel the Captain's Drive In last year, so we were particularly anxious to get a good turnout and make up for a lost year.

"In the end we managed to raise over £500 for two of our well deserving charities."

The money raised was split between Dorothy House Hospice and the Rainbow Trust.
