Two men armed with an iron bar have tried to break into a barn in a village near Salisbury.

The owner of the building near Langley Wood said the offenders cut the wires to the lights and CCTV before accessing her land.

"My husband saw them and ran out shouting," she said.

"They said they would hit him with the iron bar they had and ran off."

According to the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, the pair then drove off in a truck parked in the car park of the nature reserve by Hamptworth Road.

Police confirmed they are investigating the incident which took place aroud 9.30pm on April 27.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We have received a report of an attempted break-in of an outbuilding at a property in Redlynch.

“It happened at around 9.30pm on 27/04 when the owners of the property saw an outside light come on and saw two males stood outside, who ran away when approached.

“One of the men shouted that he had an iron bar, but did not make a direct threat or injure anyone.

“Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, but did not locate the suspects.

“We have also conducted CCTV and house-to-house enquiries, and would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area on that evening, to call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference 54210039670.

“Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
