COUNCILLORS in Trowbridge are to meet in person today (May 18) for the first time in months.

They will gather at 7pm in the Lansdown Hall at Trowbridge Civic Centre for the town's annual meeting.

One of the key items on the agenda will be to elect the town council's new chairman and mayor and deputy mayor, as well as a council leader.

The meeting will also receive a report from outgoing mayor Peter Fuller, who lost his seat in the Trowbridge Park ward in the local elections on May 6 after leaving the Conservatives and standing as an Independent.

Councillors will also decide whether to re-adopt a controversial Code of Conduct introduced by the council's controlling Liberal Democrat group.

Councillors will elect the chairs of each of the council's committees and appoint members to serve on them, as well as appoint members to serve on outside bodies and as trustees to charities.

They will also consider a recommendation to join a working group with the Town Hall Trust to maximise the benefits for Trowbridge from the Government's £16.5 million Future High Streets Fund investment.
