Doric Park plans will go before Wiltshire Council next week.

Plans for the £2.2m 3G artificial turf pitch in Hilperton will be decided on Wednesday (June 9) by the Western Area Planning Committee.

Because the bid has been entered by Trowbridge Town Council it will mean that those councillors – four of the 11 on the committee – will be excluded from discussions.Impression of the 3G artificial pitch development on land next to Doric Park

The proposed site hopes to provide parking, changing rooms, education facilities and a gym alongside the new facility.

Concerns have been raised around the proposal's finances with some councillors concerned over the long-term borrowing needed to fund the project.

Previously, objections were raised over the “lack of public consultation” on the 3G pitch but the town council ran a second round of consultation earlier this year.

Town clerk Lance Allan has said he hopes to complete the project in time for the autumn.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 9 at the Council Chamber at County Hall, Trowbridge.
