THE father of missing Trowbridge man Ben Garland fears his son's body will never be found.

Ben Garland, 24, has been missing in Ibiza since January 21 last year after riding his Harley Davidson bike to the coast.

He had ridden out near the Portinatx area to video film waves crashing onto rocks after Storm Gloria.

His father, Mark Garland, of Frome Road, Trowbridge, says he feels like the "world has forgotten" about his son ahead of a bike ride in his memory.

Mr Garland, 55, who drives for First Bus, said: "The hardest part is we still don't have closure - we don't know what happened."

He says his family will not rest until Ben's body is found and brought safely back home.

After Ben disappeared, his motorcycle, jacket, ID and wristwatch were found by the family and Spanish police who searched the coast last year.

But the sea has not yet given up Ben's body despite the family suffering the heartache of Spanish authorities being able to identify other bodies which have been found.

A motorcycle ride in Ben's memory, Ride to the Tide, is to take place at 10am on August 14 from Trowbridge Rugby Club to Poole RNLI lifeboat station to raise funds for the life-saving charity.
