A TROWBRIDGE primary school is capitalising on the increasing popularity of outdoor learning activities for young children.
Walwayne Court Primary School has opened its doors to a new pre-school forest group called Little Nutkins.
It’s a new idea by the school, aimed at encouraging young children and their families to enjoy a number of fun forest activities in the grounds of Walwayne Court.
Caz Knight ,one of the session leaders, said: “The activities will change each week and there’s also a free session where children and parents can explore the garden area, wonder around the secret orchard or enjoy the wildflowers.
“The feedback from parents so far has been great, especially about how much they enjoyed the relaxed feel of the morning.”
The new sessions will run from 9.30am until 11.30am on a Wednesday to June 30. Head teacher Mrs Sharon Turley said: “We are very fortunate at the school in that we have a wonderful outdoor area for the children to enjoy and these new sessions are a great opportunity for staff to build relationships with the children.”To book, call 01225 776886 or email admin@walwaynecourt.wilts.sch.uk so the organisers have an idea of numbers to help with planning resources.
