WILTSHIRE Council and police are trying to track down a group of travellers who left the Stallard Recreation Ground in Trowbridge today.

A Wiltshire Council spokeswoman has appealed to people to watch out for the travellers and let them know where they turn up next.

The group were issued with an enforcement notice on Tuesday afternoon ordering them to move on by 10am on Wednesday morning.

The travellers are understood to be the same group who had parked up illegally at the Bath Road car park next to King George V playing field on Wednesday last week.

They left Melksham on Sunday after being issued with an enforcement notice and are believed to have parked overnight at the White Horse Business Park in Trowbridge before moving to the Stallard Recreation Ground on Monday morning.

Cllr Stewart Palmen, leader of Trowbridge Town Council, said: “We have guests staying on the Stallards recreation ground.

“I believe that Wiltshire Council will talk to them and encourage them to move to one of the traveller sites we have in Wiltshire.

“There is a group who specialise in this type of issue, so hopefully this will be resolved amicably and quickly.”

The group have caused problems in recent weeks, after parking up illegally on the Bowerhill playing fields for a few days.

After being issued with an enforcement notice on Tuesday last week, they then moved to the Bath Road car park on Wednesday.

At Stallard Recreation Ground they parked close to houses, a children’s play area and the Trowbridge Skatepark, with caravans, vans and other vehicles.
