SEVERAL people in Trowbridge and North Bradley local communities have been posting messages on various social media sites about a male going door-to-door sometimes carrying a yellow bucket.
Other reports to Wiltshire Police have advised of a male again going door-to-door offering car washing and asking for money as he has run out of petrol.
Police said: "Whilst we do not wish to discourage anyone wishing to assist a person in need, we ask that you consider you safety by:
• Asking for identification
• Advise the person to remain outside, whilst you conduct any checks you wish to make, locking your door so the person cannot enter.
• If the person claims to be homeless or in need of support please advise them to attend Wiltshire Council, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge who can assist.
If you believe the man to be suspicious please report on 101 or online at www.wiltshire.police.uk if non-emergency. If you have CCTV or other images of the caller, we can try and identify the male and ensure he is assisted.
