POLICE in Trowbridge have reminded people to keep their home secured during the hot weather following two reports of burglaries.

Officers received two reports of incidents on Thursday, July 22 where someone had reached in through an open downstairs window to steal wallets from inside properties.

The burglaries happened in Black Swan Court, Trowbridge, near the Community Hospital and police are carrying out enquiries.

Sergeant Charly Chilton, from the Trowbridge Area Community Policing Team, said: “I know the hot weather has meant people opening their doors and windows to get some respite from the heat.

“However, we would urge you to consider the impact this could have on your ability to keep your home and your belongings safe.

“Please remember to shut doors and windows when you either leave your property, go out into the garden, or even leave that particular room.

“These sorts of criminals are opportunistic and it only takes a moment for them to take advantage of an open door or window.”
