LARKHILL-based Olympic Featherweight boxer, Gunner Karriss Artingstall, has moved a step closer to Olympic glory by a decisive victory in her second bout.

Her route to the medals began on Saturday, July 24, when she boxed against the Botswana fighter Keamogetse Kenosi in a hard fought bout, which Karriss won by a 5 – 0 margin.

Today she fought against another soldier, Brazilian Jucielen Romeu, who is ranked higher than her.

Karriss dominated the fight from the first bell and was awarded an unanimous 5 – 0 points victory.

Karriss boxes in the last eight on Wednesday afternoon, and a win here would guarantee her an Olympic medal.

Karriss serves with 1st Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery.

She hopes to emulate her fellow Gunner, Major Heather Stanning, who won gold in the rowing in 2012 Olympics and is serving in Larkhill with 47 Regiment RA.
