A SECOND-hand book sale to raise funds for a new skatepark in Bradford on Avon has raised £1,980.
Stallholders made £954 from selling tote bags, books and prints and the remaining £1,035 from book sales and donations.
Cllr Kate Bessant, who organised the event in Westbury Gardens on Saturday, June 12, said: “It was lovely to hear so many words of encouragement and raise so much money for the fund."
"As it was the first time we’d organised the event, we hadn’t set a target. We are all blown away by the money raised and the generosity of the town and visitors."
The Bradford on Avon Skatepark project is likely to cost over £200,000 and forms part of a phased improvement to a new outdoor sports area on Poulton Recreation Field.
The sale saw hundreds of books generously donated by the community.
Along with books, the skatepark project team also sold tote bags and t-shirts bearing skatepark logos, as well as limited edition prints donated by local artists.
