A Bath couple have acquired the Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa for an undisclosed sum.

Christa and Ian Taylor have bought the hotel through their company Kaleidoscope Collection.

The 32-bedroom, four-silver-AA-starred property was sold by Knight Frank off a guide price of £5.5 million.

The property fell into administration, which was overseen by Kroll Advisory, during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.

The couple already own two quirky boutique hotels, The Bird in Bath in Pulteney Road, Bath, and Homewood Hotel & Spa at Abbey Lane, Freshford.

Mr Taylor said: "We understand that there was significant interest in Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa from investors both in terms of its prestigious heritage and historic grounds, and a spike in the staycation market as a direct consequence of the pandemic.”

They reopened the Bishopstrow Hotel on July 1, saving over 30 jobs.

Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa is set within 27 acres of countryside along the River Wylye with a Doric Temple and other historic Grade 2-listed monuments in its grounds.
