AWARD-winning saxophonist Courtney Pine will be visiting Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon next month to meet budding jazz musicians.

The event on Saturday February 9 is part of VIBES, a day of music, performance activities and workshops that is particularly aimed at young people from black and minority ethnic communities in Wiltshire.

The legendary artist will be at a special Q&A session, before performing in a show with his band later that evening, a sell-out concert that is part of the centre's 10th anniversary programme.

VIBES is a collaboration between the Wiltshire Music Centre, Ethnic Minority Achievement Service, Wiltshire County Council Youth Development Service, Wiltshire Music Service, Wiltshire Youth Arts Partnership, Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra and Wiltshire Dancing.

Around 120 children and young people are expected to take part in the event.

Jo Day, head of audience development for Wiltshire Music Centre said: "Music can bring people together in a way that is stimulating and informative as well as fun, and is a great way to celebrate the ethnic diversity of Wiltshire. We're absolutely delighted that Courtney Pine is taking part this year."
