THE A36 at Limpley Stoke will be closed for 15 nights for essential survey work.

During the overnight closures from 8pm to 6am on Monday, October 18 to Friday, November 5, traffic will be diverted via the A361, A363, A350 and A4.

While work is carried out, access will still be available to properties within the closure, with marshals at both Down Lane in Bathampton and Beckington in the south to stop potential rat-running.

Temporary traffic lights have been in place on the A36 between Limpley Stoke Viaduct and Limpley Stoke Village since cracks appeared in the adjacent footpath on June 7.

National Highways said: "Initial survey works have already been completed but more intrusive surveys that require boreholes and the installation of monitoring equipment will enable a permanent fix to be designed.

"During the closure, gully cleaning and resurfacing work will also be undertaken.

"National Highways is working closely with Bath and North East Somerset Council and apologise for any inconvenience.

Drivers are reminded to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys, and regular updates will be issued."

These will be broadcast on the National Highways Twitter feed @HighwaysSWEST.
