A WILTSHIRE teenager has died after being attacked in Bath in the early hours of Monday during a visit to the city.
Benjamin Smith, 18, from Melksham, was assaulted between 2.30am and 3am in Corn Street, Bath.
The attack followed a fight at the nearby McDonald's restaurant in Southgate Street, Bath.
It is understood that Mr Smith suffered a head injury during the altercation in the early hours of Monday.
He was taken to hospital but died on Tuesday evening. The cause of death has yet to be officially confirmed.
A 19-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm on Monday.
He was re-arrested today (Wednesday, November 3) on suspicion of murder.
Avon and Somerset Police said the suspect remains in police custody and their investigation continues.
The spokesman added: "Our thoughts are with Benjamin’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers and ask for privacy as they come to terms with their loss."
