WESTBURY Town councillors have voted to adopt Vivash Park from housing developers David Wilson Homes.
They made the decision at their full council meeting on Monday. In addition, the council will receive £287,889.72 of Section 106 funding.
The park lies between the Hawkeridge Road and Slag Lane and the move will be subject to the satisfactory completion of the legal process, associated documentation and maintenance tender.
David Wilson Homes will be liable to pay the town council's legal costs associated with the transfer.
The council intends to outsource the maintenance of the park for two years while it further develops its understanding of the green space.
It will also give the council time to undertake the necessary training to enable its own staff to deliver maintenance in-house, should it wish to do so.
The council said there will be no change to the use of the park for now, and it will be made safe and secure.
