An Instagram-famous woman from Westbury has been facing an onslaught online for a number racist tweets which have been unearthed.

Social media star Elle Darby, who has an Instagram following of over 700,000 has offended many with a stream of racist posts. More than 50 have been identified which discriminate against minorities.

Although they were published ten years ago, it has still caused an outrage across social media platforms and the 26 year-old 'influencer' has now released an apology video on Youtube.

Wiltshire Times:

The video has currently racked up over 730,000 views and is trending at #2 on Youtube today.

In the video, the mum and wife-to-be admits after pressing record: “I’ve tried to film this video so many times, and every time it’s not good enough.

“There are no words to tell you how sorry I am. The tweets I made in 2011 were so disgusting and so far from the person I am today.

"They were racist, they were fat-phobic, they were homophobic. There were enabling words in them. I am ashamed. I am disgusted at myself. There is not one person on this planet that hates me more than I do right now.”

Many of the social media star’s fans have unfollowed her and her fiancé since seeing the tweets that have been drawn up from the past.

In the three minutes-forty Youtube video, Elle noted: "The pain I know I have caused to so many of you eats me up. To know that I was someone you considered a great friend, this image of me is now tainted by someone who I don't even recognise myself to have ever been."

The messages insulted Polish and Indian people, as well as those who were overweight, and the influencer has since deleted her Twitter account.

She said: "There are no words. Sorry doesn't cut it."

Since 2011, Elle has taken bigger steps into the world of social media fame, and now has over half a million subscribers on her Youtube channel: 'Elle Darby'.

Many fans feel she has a responsibility to uphold as a creator to set a good example to her audience.

Later in the video, Elle adds: "I have experienced more things, and had better education in these last ten years, than I ever had in the years before those tweets. That younger version of myself has let down everybody."
