The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Wiltshire today.

The weather experts are predicting that dense fog patches will likely cause some travel disruption from 10pm tonight until midday tomorrow.

The affected towns are set to include Devizes, Westbury, Trowbridge, Warminster, Calne and Marlborough.

Residents have been told to expect slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible, as well as a chance of delays or cancellations to flights.

According to the Met Office website, warnings of dense fog are issued when visibility is expected to fall below 200 metres. Severe disruption to transport occurs when the visibility falls below 50 metres.

For people who are still required to travel despite the weather, the advice is to drive very slowly with dipped headlights, full-beam lights reflect off the fog causing a 'white wall' effect.

Drivers are also urged to keep an eye on their speed, as fog can give the illusion of moving in slow motion.

The Met Office stresses the importance of using fog lights, but to remember to turn them off when the visibility improves.

Conditions are not expected to improve until tomorrow morning, where the Met Office predicts: 'A frosty start on Wednesday with some patchy fog. The fog will slowly lift and clear mid-morning onwards.'
