One rule for them...

The latest drinks party in the Downing Street garden reportedly attended by both Boris Johnson and his future wife Carrie Symonds when everyone else in the country was in strict lockdown, is absolutely typical of the double standards and hypocrisy of this government and Tory MPs.

It is truly remarkable that Tory MPs are apparently able to keep two seemingly contradictory ideas in their heads at the same time. On the one hand they have refused to wear masks in the House of Commons and complained about the way that Covid regulations constrain their “liberty” and limit their freedoms. Yet on the other hand they support Home Secretary Priti Patel’s draconian legislation that would greatly restrict peaceful protest and give the police greater powers.

So yet again the government are making clear that in their view, there is one rule for them and another for everyone else. That they are entitled and above the law. Freedom for them and restrictions for everybody else.

Their “freedoms” are what is important to them, the rest of us can go hang! The whole unedifying Owen Paterson saga where Boris Johnson and his subservient Tory minions sought to control the whole judgement process on abuse of power to suit their own interests was absolutely typical.

The British people are growing to realise that frequently Boris Johnson uses a convenient “crisis” to distract attention from his sleaze and corruption, often when Tory “freedoms” are seen as providing another way to further entitlement and wealth.

Another sleaze outbreak appears in the media and we then have endure yet another lecture from Johnson from the lectern on why everyone must obey the rules, just to distract us from his latest entitled debacle!

Hot air and hypocrisy

There is a lot of hot air being expended on the issue of No10's partying during lockdown. Much of the comment is clearly Party biased, and that is quite understandable. For my part I have no doubt the Prime Minister is being economical with the truth, worse, I actually believe him to be a stranger to the truth.

However, there are reported examples of Labour, Liberal, and even SNP politicians who have broken lockdown rules. The reality is that those who make, and those who enforce the rules ate quite rightly held to a higher standard of probity, and when they show a casual disregard for the rules they are rightly castigated.

Danger to the UK

In his reply to my letter objecting to the new government powers to strip people of their citizenship without notice, which is the intention of nationalities and borders bill, MP for South Swindon Robert Buckland justified it as necessary because it would 'protect Britain'. In that case I would say the first person he should put forward for being stripped of British citizenship is Boris Johnson, if he really wants to protect Britain.

Boris Johnson's record: 150 000 unnecessary Covid deaths, £37bn spaffed away on his mates for non-existent or non-functional PPE, breaking lockdowns with lavish parties whilst others saw loved ones die alone, multiple lies about non existent Brexit benefits, letting migrants die at sea, still waiting for the £350 million every week for the NHS, lied to the Queen, worst record on Covid in Europe.

His botched Brexit deal leaving Northern Ireland mostly in the EU, the Ulster unionists up in arms as NI business thrived compared to rest of the UK. United Ireland now more likely. Scotland voted to stay in the EU so independence looks more attractive. So breakup of the UK is real threat now..

Whether it's to protect UK citizens or the UK itself, Boris should be the first one to go.
