Around 40 cars were damaged in Chippenham in the early hours of Saturday (January 15).

Windscreen wipers and aerials were ripped from dozens of vehicles.

So far police have found it has affected cars in Field View, Charter Road, Westmead Lane and Sandes Close areas, as well as the Louise Rayner Place car park.

Officers from the Chippenham Community Policing Team are carrying our enquiries and are reviewing CCTV in the hope of identifying the offender or offenders.

They are appealing for anyone with information, including any potential witnesses or any businesses or residents who have CCTV cameras or video doorbell footage, to come forward.

Inspector James Brain from the local neighbourhood policing team said: “I would like to reassure local residents that we are committed to identifying and bringing to justice the person or people responsible for randomly causing this damage.

"This type of mindless behaviour causes distress and financial hardship to the victims and will not be tolerated.”

There is currently an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
