CONCERNS have been raised about the unfinished state of a pedestrian crossing close to a new housing estate in Melksham.

Local parish councillor Nick Holder says it's about time the crossing at the A365 roundabout next to the new Pathfinder Place was completed for use.

He says the crossing is an "accident waiting to happen" as some pedestrians are using the crossing and some drivers are ignoring it.

Cllr Holder and Melksham Without Parish Council are pressing housing developer Taylor Wimpey to get the crossing working to improve pedestrian safety to and from the new housing estate.

A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey said: "We understand the concerns of local residents and would like to assure them that we are committed to completing all outstanding works at Pathfinder Place at the earliest opportunity.

“We continue to work closely with our contractors, service company and highway authority to ensure that the highway works are completed as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience as we continue to work in the area and thank local residents for their ongoing patience.”
