A musical trio are planning to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees with a concert for Edington Arts at Edington Priory Church.

Metamorphoses is an unusual ensemble of piano, viola and clarinet and will be performing on Saturday, April 2 at 7.30pm.

Their performance marks the first time a trio has played for Edington Arts in the Priory Church, and it’s no ordinary trio.

The players represent a really global community; the pianist is Crimean-born/long term Spanish resident  Ilona Timchenko, the violist is Dutchman Roeland Jagers, and the clarinettist is American Jean Johnson, now living in Scotland.

Each also has an individually glittering career as a soloist or chamber music player, and they came together in 2016 to explore music written for this combination of instruments. They have been performing and recording together ever since.

Against the background of the war in Ukraine, there will be a retiring collection at the end of the concert to be given to the Disasters Emergency Committee for their humanitarian work for the victims of the war in that country.

Tickets remain at £20, 15 and 10, with a 10 per cent discount for Edington Angels and 18 and under coming free.
