PARISH councillors in Winsley pressing Wiltshire Council to reduce the speed limit on the B3108 road to 30mph.
The county has already reduced the speed limit to 40mph on a stretch of the road from Downs View in Bradford on Avon to the foot of Winsley Hill.
It was reduced as part of a Traffic Order relating to plans for a £250,000 shared path to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and mobility scooter users using the road between Winsley and Bradford on Avon.
But the Traffic Order also included the reinstatement of a 50mph speed limit on a stretch of the road leading to beyond the Avonpark retirement living complex at Winsley.
Parish council chairman Ed Gilby said: “Thee parish council strongly objected to this, citing the various access points along the route and the effect these had on traffic flow and overall safety.
“As a result, Wiltshire Highways has conducted a survey which includes the area of Tyning Road, Dane Rise and Hartley Farm Lane to establish speed limits and any other safety requirements.
“We hope that a positive outcome will emerge during the coming year."
