On Saturday evening (30/04), officers out on patrol in the town stopped two men in a car and carried out a search.

They located around £1,000 in cash, as well as a large quantity of cocaine and cannabis, and a knife.

The pair were arrested and their home addresses searched, with further drugs, cash, weapons and drugs paraphernalia also seized.

A 35-year-old man from Chippenham was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

A 20-year-old man from Calne was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

They have both been interviewed and released under investigation while our enquiries continue.

Inspector Louis McCoy, from the local policing team, said: “This was fantastic proactive policing which has allowed us to not only arrest two people, but also get illegal drugs and weapons off our streets.
