A new club set up to help those escaping the war in Ukraine to settle in Wiltshire is being supported by Bradford on Avon Town Council.
The Bradford on Avon Ukrainian Club, launched on Monday, May 9 and is designed to be a welcoming weekly meet up for Ukrainians who have recently arrived in the town or the local area.
Held at The Hub @ BA15 in Church Street, the club will provide a safe and comfortable space for the Ukrainians to meet new people over tea and cake.
The Ukrainian Club will also offer English lessons to those who want them, as well as help with day-to-day challenges.
Cllr Sam Blackwell, whose wife Yana comes from Ukraine, said: “We are delighted to hear of many Bradford on Avon residents offering a place in their homes to Ukrainians.
“The Ukrainian Club aims to help our new residents settle in and feel part of our community, providing them with practical support and a warm welcome.”
Both adults and children are welcome, and there will be some fun and engaging activities for all to enjoy.
The first meet-up took place today at 3.30pm and included a welcome from the town’s new mayor Cllr Katie Vigar.
